Small Town Charm

When I first moved to this small town, which seemed to be in the middle of no where, it was an inconvenience. The larger towns with stores were at least an hour away and I wasn't used to driving that far for everyday errands. I was thankful for the opportunity that brought me here, but at times I felt isolated.

Trying New Things

This past August I decided to go to the Watermelon festival. I was presently surprised as to what the festival had to offer. There were food trucks, a flea market, rides for kids, and fireworks in the evening. While at the festival I discovered a cute boutique with reasonably priced items. I bought a top that would be perfect for summer, fall transition or work.

Two weeks ago I went back to that boutique, but unfortunately nothing caught my eye. I also went a flower shop and country antique store. I tried a pizza place, but I was very disappointed. For a small pizza I paid over $17 because I had to pay for each additional topping (including sauce and cheese). I did not like the toppings so I took them off.

Last friday after work I stopped to fill air in my tires. Next door the thrift store was having a large sale and when I walked in I gasped at the large selection of beautiful items.

Crime

With all this being shared there are also some negative aspects to living in this small town. Last October was my first time hearing gun shots. I am not unfamilar with that sounds as I like going to the shooting range and grew up in a military town, but that night terrified me. I hears possibly 30 shots then maybe 8 police cars. I am aware that crime like that can happen anywhere, but since the town is so small no matter where you live something can be heard. Since that incident I have heard gun shots on a regular basis.
